Yokai Races
You've travelled to distand lands and met many a people from cultures throughout the plane. And yet the more you travel the more you see the same. Haughty elves¸ and ill-tempered dwarves have shown up time and time again no matter how far you travel. That ends now. As you cross into Kara-tur prepare yourself to meet many new societies who look and act like nothing you've seen before. You may have encountered a single Oni mage masquerading as a gladiator¸ but do you know of the war and alliances betwen the Magically inclined Aoi Oni¸ and the martial Akane Oni? You may have heard tell of the shapeshifting Hengeyokai from other sources but they are not simple animal shifters as you may have ben led to believe. Between the Kitsune¸ the Tanuki¸ and the Bakeneko each have their own approach to their shifting nature and different abilities unrelated to their animals. Join me in Yokai Races! Here we have options for 5 new player races pulled directly from Japanese mythology! Most of these have their own subraces with deep history of their divisions and plenty of inspiration to get you immersed in this world and and understand what may lead these people to become adventurers! These include. Hengeyokai: This classic D&D race has been updated to more closely resemble their mythological counterparts. This includes Kitsune with extra tails and illusion magic¸ Bakeneko with innate necromancy¸ and tanuki with massive...Constitution! Kappa: The strange aquatic cousins of tortles¸ these smaller reptile people gain bonuses to strength and grapple checks¸ as long as they can keep from falling over. Oni: The ancient wars between Red and Blue Oni are over. Now these two antagonistic clans have joined the Red's massive might with the Blue Oni's deceptive magic you may have read about in your monster manual. Tengu: Tengu society is divided between two rigid classes. The lowly beak tengu who resemble Kenku before their fall¸ and the aristacratic Great Tengu who train their lives to master eccletic wisdom and sword play. Ryu Dragonborn: Finally¸ the gemstone Dragons of the East bear little resemblance to their Metallic and Chromatic cousins. And if this sample does well enough I might add a new file with stat blocks for those wise neutrally-aligned creatures. But for now take a sampling for their humanoid relatives who trade their breath weapons for innate connections with the five elements! Also available are options for Katana and Kanabo weapons as well as stats for Cats¸ Foxes¸ and Racoon-dogs EDIT: The art seems to have been removed during the upload process. I'll try and get this all sorted out but for now all art can be viewed here! https://www.deviantart.com/frozenodin/gallery/71892275/yokai
