The 9th Age: Fantasy Battles Core Rules
The 9th Age: Fantasy Battles¸ often simply called The 9th Age or T9A¸ is a community-driven non-commerical miniatures wargame in which two grand armies clash in an epic battle for power or survival. Each army can be composed of simple foot soldiers¸ skilled archers¸ armourclad knights¸ powerful wizards¸ legendary heroes¸ epic monsters¸ and huge dragons.
It is a fantasy setting "ranks & flanks" style wargame which is miniatures agnostic. It is designed to be played with 25-32mm scale miniatures¸ however the rules can easily be adapted to accommodate different miniature scales as only the relative base sizes are important. The game is usually played on a 72" by 48" battlefield and uses six-sided dice to resolve different actions such as charging into battle¸ letting arrows loose¸ or casting spells.
Maintained by hundreds of passionate players from all over the world¸ The 9th Age is a free fantasy tabletop miniatures wargame designed for everyone.
Casual players will love the unlimited customisation of armies represented by models from any company¸ and the ability to play fun games which are not decided by a single dice roll. Tournament gamers will appreciate the precise rules and the exceptional balance. Storytellers can immerse themselves in a setting characterised by its realism¸ rooted in authentic medieval cultures and legends¸ where there is infinite room for their own story.
