Risky Things to do: in Dramatic Sequences
A Hero's life is not non-stop combat¸ and nor¸ as players¸ would we want it to be. But danger lurks beyond the battlefield¸ and the absence of bloodshed doesn't deprive a scene of tension¸ melodrama or excitement. The suspicious glares of local villagers can serve as a prelude to brewing hostilities¸ whilst the machinations of Villainous courtiers might not threaten loss of life¸ but could easily lead to loss of reputation¸ honour or status.
In high intensity moments like these¸ there's a lot of pressure on GMs to quickly come up with Consequences and Opportunities - the Risky Things series exists to take some of the load off. It anticipates the kind of Risks that Heroes will likely undertake in a swashbuckling game¸ and suggests Consequences and Opportunities that correspond to them. You might use these as examples to spark your own creativity¸ or even port them straight over into your game as-is.
This supplement includes:
- Risks¸ Consequences and Opportunities for when you're new in town¸ attending a formal party¸ or engaging in formal argument.
- Gamesmaster advice for how to implement and modify Consequences and Opportunities¸ as well as a quick reference sheet for use at the table.
- New advantages for Villains to use in Dramatic Sequences¸ and three new Brute Squad abilities.
