eyond being known for its dangerous waters¸ the Atabean Sea is a hub for trade and a source of exported goods: sugar¸ molasses¸ bananas¸ coffee¸ tobacco¸ rum¸ gold¸ information-and also guava. The sweet and sour tropical fruit has now become a favorite among those who have tasted it as well as those who grow it.
But like anything sourced from the collection of islands¸ it comes with a price and a story. It is said that the Op'a consume guava in large amounts¸ swallowing the seeds and taking over the living. An Op'a resides in each of us-it is the dead self inside that usually sleeps until death completely takes over us.
