Absolution tells the tale of the meeting of two heroes¸ Luis Rafael Dominguez de San Angelo and Sylvia Étalon du Toille¸ and their quest to discover who or what is behind the destruction of the small town of Alesmoit. Luis¸ a swordsman from Castille¸ is convinced that a legendary ghost ship¸ the Black Freighter¸ is behind the attack. Sylvia¸ a Musketeer in service to l'Empereur¸ is more skeptical and determined to get to the truth.
