100 Rumours to Hear in: Crescent Empire
This is a selection of one hundred different rumours that could be discovered by characters in the Crescent Empire. Whether or not any of these rumours are true is up to the GameMaster. Some rumours are based on the truth whilst others may have misinterpretations and some do have elements that are definitely not true¸ or at least not canon. An individual GM can decide that they are true in their campaign.
These rumours can be used as potential adventure hooks or as simple misinformation or background colour to be used whilst characters are looking for other information.

- Every now and then¸ caravans have been known to disappear in the 8th Sea¸ lost to the sands. The Tribes know that such is the action of Gocihr¸ the Terror of the 8th Sea. Those who travel with the Tribes are not troubled¸ and caravans are only rarely lost. At least¸ those who travel with the Tribes used to be safe and caravans were only rarely lost. Recently¸ even caravans travelling with the tribes have gone missing¸ and far more have vanished than ever before. Some think that Gocihr has been disturbed¸ either by accident or deliberately. In the latter case¸ perhaps it was done to spread trouble within the empire.
- Every year some go missing after swimming in the Pool of Sorrow in Anatol Yhu¸ where a Numanari king was imprisoned in legend. Recently¸ though¸ some have not gone missing but have started acting strangely¸ seeking out knowledge related to the lost king and his imprisonment. Some think that these individuals have been affected by the pool in a different way to normal¸ and are seeking to free the king from his imprisonment.
- Evidence has apparently been discovered¸ at the very limits of Persis close to Cathay¸ of a hidden tomb¸ one dating back to the time of Iskander. It seems some carvings have been found suggesting that there is tomb in the region¸ belonging to Iskander the Malcedonian. If this is true¸ such a tomb would be of immense importance to many of the people of the Crescent Empire.
- Frequent scuffles have broken out amongst crews on the docks in Siphon¸ and a few ships have also come into conflict. It's not entirely certain why the different conflicts have broken out¸ but various shouted slogans suggest that the crews support different factions of the Persic Insurrection. On a number of occasions¸ local forces have also become involved. Oddly¸ sometimes the different crews appear to work on ships that have the same owners.
- Har Hazetim¸ the cemetery outside the Sarmion capital¸ Salemoria¸ has been a dangerous and terrifying place for years¸ due to the sheer numbers of people buried there. Spirits and ghouls are not uncommon¸ but recently visitors to the cemetery have claimed such have gone to being not uncommon to very common¸ even during broad daylight. Visitors¸ from individuals up to entire parties¸ have apparently ventured into the cemetery in recent weeks and simply disappeared.
